AI and regulatory conformity

This regulation complements the Guidelines for a Trustworthy AI, which aim to provide a framework for processes and best practices around Artificial Intelligence. To help companies design AI that is both compliant and ethical, Axys can help you take account of AI regulations in your existing systems and in your current and future projects. To pursue the development of trusted AI and comply with regulations, we offer companies a structured approach with concrete actions to mitigate risks.

The Axys method

As part of our approach to compliance, we map your AI systems to identify the levels of risk to be addressed. Based on the level of risk (unacceptable, high, low, minimal) of each AI system, we analyze the points of weakness with regard to guiding principles such as accountability, robustness, auditability, etc.) and define remediation actions. To understand the need to pursue the development of trusted AI and comply with regulations, companies need to take a structured approach right now, aimed at :

The first step will be to draw up a diagnosis covering both an assessment of the risks associated with the AI systems in place, the processes, organization and reporting in place, and also the populations impacted within the company. The aim is to map and rapidly assess the risks associated with their AI system, and to draw up an inventory of existing use cases and identify the level of risk for each system and each use case.

The action plan will define the work to be carried out to bring existing use cases into compliance (audit, remediation, etc.), draw up a change management and change management skills development plan, and define the work to be carried out in terms of governance.

To integrate ethics into AI and comply with the regulatory requirements of the AI Act, business leaders are called upon to take up the issue so that AI is a strong and sustainable contributor and growth driver for years to come. A structured change management plan will aim to:

  • acculturate management committees on the fundamentals to be implemented
  • raise awareness among all employees
  • inform and train the stakeholders most involved: middle management, project managers, CDOs, CISOs, data scientists, etc.
  • inform users

The regulatory requirements to be met mean that we need to be able to account for compliance with regulations, from the intent of the use case, its design, the data collected and used to train the AI system, right through to the results obtained and the system’s operation. This requires the empowerment of a large number of collaborators with varied skills, and brings us back to governance issues in order to :

  • Define target organization and processes
  • Assign roles and responsibilities to stakeholders
  • Define measures (monitoring, data archiving, etc.) for responsible and ethical data management.

The question of a dedicated organization arises even if a Data organization is already in place with assigned roles and responsibilities (CDO, data steward, etc.).
